Sankyu Inc., established in October 1, 1918, is one of Japan's renowned logistics companies, which owns more than 120 offices both in and outside Japan (including overseas group companies) and 10,000 employees (28,000 employees including domestic and overseas group companies). (As of March, 2012)
Moji Branch of Sankyu Inc. (Constructors; infoSense Corporation / ALPHATEC limited Corporation) utilizes Panasonic network cameras and network disk recorders for the improvement in the safety of container handling operations.
Jumbo straddle carriers transporting large-size containers often come into and go out of a container handling site. In addition, a number of forklifts bring packages into and out of the containers. To improve the operation safety, the site supervisor has to confirm that there are no packages and peoples left around the transportation site where jumbo containers will arrive before directing his or her staff members to start the operations. In a warehouse where jumbo containers are handled, visibility tends to be poor since a large number of containers, packages, and machines are often stacked in all places. The container handling operations will rapidly proceed, and it is burdensome and dangerous for the supervisor to walk around the operation site in a large warehouse for direction. Panasonic has enabled the precise direction by a supervisor for the operation site thanks to our solutions to monitor the site simultaneously from multiple angles without interfering the operations by installing the cameras onto the positions where the container openings can be checked from above.
