Panasonic, a NVIDIA Metropolis partner creating safer and more secure AI cities, showcased its latest deep learning facial recognition solution “FacePRO” powered by NVIDIA deep learning platform
The Panasonic Corporation is a participant in the NVIDIA Metropolis Partner Program created by NVIDIA, a trailblazer in the creation of AI cities. Panasonic is to exhibit at GPU Technology Conference (GTC) Japan 2018, presenting FacePRO, their facial recognition system that utilizes a NVIDIA GPU.
Metropolis, an intelligent video analysis platform put forth by NVIDIA, applies deep learning to video streaming for the creation of safer and more cutting-edge smart cities unlike anything before in terms of public safety, traffic management, resource optimization, etc. Over 100 companies are already participating, and products and applications implementing deep learning technology have started to become available.
Wide-scale improvement in monitoring and crime-prevention camera function as well as resolution make for a colossal volume of image data. Furthermore, the necessity of high-speed, systematic analysis for these images is increasing, so high processing power is required of the GPUs for these images. NVIDIA is a global company that develops GPUs which are an indispensable element of the image solutions Panasonic provides. NVIDIA’s deep learning platform was adopted for FacePRO, a facial recognition system released by Panasonic in August 2018, enabling the construction of world-leading facial recognition technology. As a Metropolis partner, Panasonic continues to work toward the creation of a safe and secure society through product development that utilizes deep learning technology.
